Chiropractic Adjustments

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as a spinal manipulation, is a hands-on therapeutic procedure performed by a chiropractor to restore proper motion, alignment and function to the spine or other joints.

The goal of the adjustment is to address joint misalignments or restrictions in joint motion.  This restriction in motion can interfere with the nervous system, cause pain, reduce range of motion, or lead to other skeletal muscular problems.

During an adjustment, the chiropractor applies a controlled force to a specific joint, often in the spine, to correct misalignments, relieve pressure, and restore normal joint movement. This force may produce a "popping" or "cracking" sound, which is caused by the release of gas bubbles from the joint fluid as the joint capsule is stretched.

Working with Dr. Pisenti

Dr. Pisenti DC, uses many different chiropractic techniques depending on what the patient needs are.

The types of chiropractic adjustments he uses are: Diversified adjustments, Drop Table, and Activator Technique.

Before any adjustments at Pisenti Chiropractic, Dr. Pisenti DC treats the soft tissue using Active Release (ART), which is usually why the joint needs to be adjusted.   Typically there is a problem with the soft tissue.   In doing ART first, Dr. Pisenti can use a very gentle force to achieve the chiropractic adjustment after we treat the tissue restrictions.
